Solved PI Lowering Springs

Has anyone had PI springs on their car before? I've found lowering springs by PI on ebay for £101.50 (not sure what the £1 of it is all about).

I wouldn't do springs, i know they are cheap but the side effects aren't worth it, coilovers are the best option

thing is springs will shorten the life of your dampers, the handling will probably be worse potentially the geometry will be out knocking tyres out quicker..so while the spring are cheaper initially in the long run you could be paying a lot more

Im not fussed about handling because I don't go racing around. It's only for looks. I just haven't got £500+ to spare especially with bills and stuff. But id only be going 30mm lower

suspension is worked probably harder on roads than on track were you have smooth tarmac..regardless of speed


Ive done everything from lowering springs to aftermarket OEM to Coilovers..

I know this doesn't apply to all cars but when i had a Punto GT the standard dampers gave up fairly quickly after fitting a set of Hormann springs, on the flip side nobody and i mean nobody fits springs to a 200SX as there have been so many people finding the suspension gives up days after fitting them..the dampers are designed to work within certain ranges, lowering on springs pushes them outside of this.


you recently said in another post about looking for wheels, IMO a car on stand height looks awful on aftermarket wheels (especially if you are thinking of going larger) but a car lowered on standard wheels can look fine.

so why not spend the money on a set of coilovers as opposed to a set of wheels.

I appreciate its a cheap way to lower your car, but the cons outweigh the pro's IMO

See if read numerous posts on forums etc (mainly clio forums) where people have said they've had the same lowering springs on their cars for years without the dampers from going. It's a 50/50 subject really. Half of the people say coilovers hands down and the other half say lowering spring are good.

Im now in 2 minds of even lowering the car after all, especially since its still in the 4 years of warranty with Renault and if I change them, the warranty is void.

if its still under warranty i wouldn't look at changing anything.

for example if your gearbox breaks they'll blame it on the suspension Very Happy they'l take any avenue to get out of a warranty claim

Try driving a car at standard height (more like a 4x4) with standard everything! It is horrible!
