Insurance Empty Insurance

Post by MadManMeasures Fri Mar 04, 2016 6:05 pm

The insurance is up for renewal on the SX next week. My current insurers (flux) want £471 bearing in mind last year I paid £435 an I now have another years no claims, Greenlight want £487 but will do mirrored no claims so I can use my no claims on the daily, Sky will do it for £455 but they said I need a cat to be insured by them, Prestige quoted about £500 without even seeing my mods list.

Anyone have any other suggestions??? really don’t want to pay more than last year!

@MadManMeasures, mine was the same on my Clio when I renewed. 2014/2015 I paid £390 and then October 2015rolled around and the cheapest quote I could find was £450 from Sky Insurance.

Thanks but I have already insured with Greenlight as they offered agreed value and mirrored no claims.

Try Sky Insurance. I have all my mods declared. Adrian Flux was the cheapest when I was searching around but I went back to Sky and said that I really didn't want to go with AF because they were too pushy and Sky managed to match the quote for me.

Tell them you have been recommended by a existing customer.

I have just found this on the www.gov.uk website: https://www.gov.uk/change-vehicle-details-registration-certificate/what-evidence-to-give

www.gov.uk wrote:Change of engine number or cylinder capacity (cc)
You need to provide either:

  • a receipt for the replacement engine
  • written evidence from the manufacturer
  • an inspection report provided for insurance purposes
  • written confirmation on headed paper from a garage (if the change took place before you bought the vehicle)

Looks like a lot of hassle to me.

Too much work for my liking. I read on some forums that you really have to jump through hoops to have the v5 changed.
