Performance air filters
So...as I haven't a clue about the workings under the bonnet, I have a question most of you may be able to answer. Here it is:
I have just ordered myself a K&N air filter for my 2013 clio which is a 900cc turbo engine (not sure if it makes a difference). But, do I have to do anything to the new air filter before I replace my old one? E.g. oiling it?
Thanks in advance,
Leigh

Usually they come pre oiled in a sealed bag. You also sometimes get additional spray oil though must admit I didn't with the last one I bought. Usually pipercross include a can of spray oil as well which from memory is once a year just a light dusting of spray

Thanks Dave. I thought I heard someone say to me a few months back about oiling an air filter but I wasn't sure whether it needed to be done pre-installation.

Re: Performance air filters
I wouldn't use any air filters that use oil/sprays as they can kill the afm/maf. Standard air filters aren't oil or sprayed with anything.

Re: Performance air filters
Do not oil it..
Clogs up turbo blades and eventually ends up in engine.
Best thing is to use a foam filter without oil..
K and n don't oil their filters for that reason above.
